I’ll be the DJ : 45°

The weather has turned and the leaves have fallen off the trees.  Winter is here.  Snow is on the mountains and it is 45° tonight in my city.  This is a compilation of mellow music that feels like 45° or warms me when I feel like I’m 45°.  With Elton and Ellie, Mayer and Frusciante, Radioheads and Red Hots, and a few extra gems I have discovered in my travels.  Anyways hope you guys like the list as much as I do!

: Fear . and . Gonzo :

So yesterday was 6 years since one of my favorite authors brutally took his own life, as he had always said he would, Hunter S. Thompson. So in memory of the crazy madman I’ve made a playlist that I feel represents his life. Check it out here on YouTube. Again Sony, UMG, and EMI hate freedom so click the link to YouTube to listen to all songs

: Indie . Beach . Chill :

Another bit of music musings here for you.  An indie/beach/acoustic feel to todays set.  I must want spring to get here already it seems.  Also it seems that Sony and UMG are blocking any video of any artist using any piece of any song that is “theirs” from being shown on any site except the artist or sponsored youtube channel. CORPORATE LAME!!  So unfortunately half of these videos won’t work on this page, but I’ve made a playlist on youtube so click HERE to check out all the songs together.

: Filthy . Bass . Heads :

It seems as if Dub-Step is taking the electronic music scene by storm. In the L.A. & S.F. areas all the cool kids are doing it now and the rest of the nation is following suit. They’ve had it across the pond in London for a while now; but as every good English musician has done, they come to America to make money and gain a bigger audience. Then we Yanks take the music and run with it. Described by fans as: filthy, grimy, raw and sublime, Dub-Step is very intense and mesmerizing to listen to if you have the right sound setup: MORE BASS & EXTREMELY LOUD. Live, I don’t think any music is quite as powerful and moving. It’s like a tribal drum circle on crack, amplified and reeking of that OG KU, all pumped out of a fire hose aimed at your face. I’ve fallen head over heals; literally by the wobbles, kicks, and massive drops. I can’t stand and my stomach hurts and I am loving every filthy second of it.
